Our healthy swap shop is open for business

Nursery and reception have been taking part in a healthy project to encourage them to make healthy swaps and choices at school – it is going so well that we wanted to tell you about it.

They have enjoyed fresh fruit and snacks in exchange for one of their less healthy snacks from their lunchbox. We have saved all their ‘treats’ for a special event at the end of term – so they wont miss out!

Here they are manning the swap shop stall:

Congo fundraising!

HUGE shout out to Caitlin in reception who has so far raised a staggering £160!

Please get sponsoring us to raise money for our children and come along for a walk yourselves if you fancy!

This is one of our first exciting fundraising activities that all of our children will be taking part in to make our learning environment amazing! The challenge is to walk the length of the Congo River together, by completing a sponsored walk and fun challenges around our school grounds. Frogs have kindly donated £500 to start off funds toward our total of £3000 -the cake sale made £97.00!

The children will decide how the money is spent. They gave a few ideas in assembly-like new play equipment in KS1, a new scooter rack and a buddy bench for lonely children to sit on-but we will have a vote where everyone’s voices are considered through school council and make sure that it is spent on something that benefits the majority. And of course of you’ve really helped fundraise and have your own ideas for how it is spent, we’d love to hear them, come and talk to us.

Every child will carry a passport to collect stamps from each of the challenges set. All passports will be entered into a prize draw to win tickets to Tropiquaria Animal Sanctuary. Parents you are also invited to take part for a small fee of 50p to purchase a passport. Come along and join your child’s class for some fun! Please let your child’s class teacher know if you will be attending.

Cross country superstar

A huge congratulations to Marni in Year 6 who spent Saturday morning running a very long cross country course taking part in the Regional Cross Country Finals.

Mr Froom and Miss Morgan accompanied her to Ashton Park School and were very proud of how well she persevered, kept going until the very end and both said she represented the school brilliantly.

Well done Marni!

Greenfield Farm!

We are all looking forward to this coming week’s activities at Greenfield -even more learning and playing outdoors.

We will be welcoming chickens to the KS1 playground and encouraging our children to visit the ducks that have recently hatched in Reception. We currently have four ducks who are loving happily under their warm UV lamp alongside Gary the hamster.

Thank you to everyone who has donated hay, straw, food, time and resources to support us in enabling our outdoor gardens and animal areas to thrive. The children are really enjoying looking after them and are producing wonderful work because of their interest in the animals.
