Today years 3,4, 5 and 6 watched and took part in an amazing production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet from the Young Shakespeare company.
The children were mesmerised and there was lots of audience participation.
The actors and actresses made it really easy to understand all of the difficult and new vocabulary and words in the play. We were all chanting ‘Romeo Romeo where for art thou Romeo?’ by the end!
There were some difficult issues that the play tackled, like death, and so we had circle times to talk about these afterwards and share any worries we had.
The children really got into it and thoroughly enjoyed it – we cant wait to work on our play scripts in literacy with them now. Here are some photos, they really don’t do it justice – please ask you children about it tonight and see what they thought!
