Many of you will have heard your children talking about Mathletics, movie maker, iPads, movie maker apps and scratch for programming. These are all things we have been using for a while to support key IT skills and also learning across the curriculum. Recently we’ve started using two new apps to support learning. If you’ve heard your children talking about Class Dojo or Seesaw and wondered what they were talking about….read on to find out more.
An app we use to support excellent learning behaviours in some classes. Everyone has an avatar (a Dojo) assigned to them.
The teachers have them too!
Children receive points for various behaviours and are awarded prizes, gold cards etc when they do well. This is working brilliantly at the minute and we only give out points for positives. Here are all the things we can praise for:
Seesaw is a bit like a showcase of children’s learning on a feed that scrolls through the posts. Children post notes, drawings, videos and writing and their teachers ‘approve’ them so we know they are safe. Years 3&6 are using this regularly-here are some of their posts:
Parents have logins and can comment on work too, this all has to be approved by the teacher too. Seesaw is really helping us to encourage children to master skills outside of the academy.
So that’s what we are up to with Dojo and Seesaw. I will be in the art studio on Wednesday after school next week completing some IT tasks with parents, if you’d like to join for a quick tutorial please drop in.
