Charity work and fancy dress days

Supporting others is something that we at Greenfield really value. British values based on fairness and democracy are promoted at our school, and helping those less fortunate than ourselves to make the world a fairer place is part of children’s social and moral development.

Lunch club and school council will be working hard to promote these events nearer the time, but as I know you like to be prepared for fancy dress days- here are some charities we’d like to support this term:

On Friday 16th October we will be having an ASTHMA UK LOUD DAY where we dress loud and proud to raise awareness and money for Asthma sufferers in the UK. Anything green goes as long as you make a donation by handing £1 to your class teacher at the start of the day. We will also be selling wristbands for £1 in the playground-more info to come on this.

Why Asthma UK?

On average, three people a day die from Asthma in the UK.
• One in 11 children has asthma and it is the most common long-term medical condition.
• On average there are two children with asthma in every classroom in the UK.

We also decided that on Friday 18th December we would like to support SavetheChildren and our own children by having a Christmas Jumper day! Proceeds will be split half and half between Frogs and Savethechildren.

Why Save the Children?

Together; we invest in childhood — every day, in times of crisis and for our future. It’s by far the most important investment we can make. One that changes the course of children’s lives, as well as the future we all share. The recent crisis in Syria, and refugee appeals have affected us all-this is a small way in which we can help these children, as well as many others across the world who aren’t as lucky as us.

This is the last day of term so will be a Jolly end to the year. Again, £1 donations to the cause please!
They also have a Facebook page if you’d like more information-click here:

And finally….US!

We will also be doing some fundraising for ourselves, through FROGs this year, with apple bobbing contests, cake and treat sales and hopefully a healthy tuckshop!

If you’d like any more information on our term 1 charities or Frogs fundraisers please get in touch. Perhaps you have a charity close to your own heart that you’d like us to support? Please get in touch with me, or a member of lunch club or the school council team to tell us all about it.

Many thanks in advance for your support.
